SIR GEORGE BARLOW AS GOVERNOR-GENERAL (1805-07)


Sir George Hilaro Barlow, 1st Baronet, served as Acting Governor-General of India from the death of Lord Cornwallis in 1805 until the arrival of Lord Minto in 1807.

An important event was the Mutiny of Vellore in 1806 in which the Indian soldiers killed many English officials.

Slave trade abolished in the British Empire in 1807.
